Susan Angvall, Manager, Appeals and Chief Security Officer

Susan joined HRS five years ago and has served in a management role for the past two years providing leadership over the Reimbursement Appeals cycle. With a foundation in Common Working File, DSH and Medicare and Medi-Cal analytics, Susan now leads the filings of initial appeal requests, preliminary and final position papers insuring documentation, calculations, timelines, and subsequent responses are executed with precision and compliant with all Provider Reimbursement Review Board requirements. She works with leadership to address cost report issues and Susan provides regulatory reviews and commentary on regulation proposals. She partners with legal counsel preparing documents for Expedited Judicial Reviews, PRRB hearings and settlement agreements. With this background she routinely interacts with MAC and PRRB officials providing authoritative support for HRS positioning.

Susan also serves as the firms Security Officer for the Information and Security Program. She has in-depth knowledge of HIPAA and HITECH requirements and leads firm efforts with security oriented policy and procedures, re-occurring risk assessments, subsequent improvement initiatives and works closely with IT insuring that technical safeguards are routinely reviewed and tested to preserve the confidentiality, integrity and availability of ePHI. Susan is the lead oversite official for workforce adherence to security rules and the provision of associated employee training.

Susan’s 11-year experience in merchandise and store management with Tommy Hilfiger and The Limited included regional leadership responsibilities for management training, sales achievement, inventory requirements, budgeting, and employee training programs.

Susan earned a BA, Sociology & Anthropology from West Virginia University.
